What is cork?Cork is the harvested bark of cork oak trees. Most cork comes from cork oak trees in Portugal, Spain, and North Africa. Portugal is the largest exporter of cork.
How is cork made into fabric? The cork bark is carefully selected, then boiled and pulverized, and spread into sheets. It is then attached to a fabric backing (usually cotton, a polyester, or a cotton & polyester blend)
Are all materials used in this bag vegan?Yes! All elements of the bag are vegan and no animals are harmed in the making of our products. Our Alfama bag is PETA approved, and our Lisbon bag uses PETA approved cork fabric (we’re working on our paperwork to get that PETA approved as well!)
What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my purchase? If you’re not satisfied with your bag for any reason within the first 30 days of purchase, just let us know ( team@quirkcollection.com) and we’ll send return instructions- returns are free! If you have an issue with your bag past that point, please still let us know and we’ll work to make it right. Satisfaction guaranteed! We want to make sure that you love our product and are happy with it now and in the future!
Who should I reach out to if I’m having trouble with the website?Reach out to our customer success email: team@quirkcollection.com and we’ll get back to you ASAP!
Do you ship worldwide? Not currently- we’re currently only shipping to the US. We recognized that taxes for our customers were very high in a lot of countries, so we’re working on setting up international hubs so we can ship around the world! This FAQ should be updated soon 😊
What are you doing to reduce your negative impact on the environment? In addition to not using animal byproducts to create our bags, we’re trying to decrease our footprint and offset it. Our material comes from special oak trees that sequester large amounts of CO2 and help biodiversity (we never cut these trees down for our product). We plant a tree with every bag we sell. We pay our shipping partners to offset our carbon footprint. We ship in bulk to the US so our bags can be shipped locally, and we decrease our cross-Atlantic shipping. We use recycled fibers whenever possible, and we’re constantly working on ways to reduce plastic. Being kinder to the planet is always going to be one of our core priorities.
